USDA names new acting deputy assistant secretary for congressional relations

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on Monday appointed Ann Wright, the Agriculture deputy undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs, as acting deputy assistant secretary for congressional relations.

Wright was appointed to her current role in June 2009, and served as the acting undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs from August through October of that same year. She is a former aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

Wright succeeds Bobbi Jeanquart, who resigned the position to join the USDA’s senior executive service career development program.

Rebecca Blue, who has been serving as the legislative director in the office of congressional relations, will succeed Wright as the acting deputy undersecretary for marketing and regulatory services. Blue, a native of South Dakota and graduate of South Dakota State University, previously worked as a legislative assistant to then-Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D.
