Greenhouse gas projects funded in 24 states

Funding for nine greenhouse gas mitigation projects in 24 states was announced today by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Chief Dave White.

The projects will be funded through USDA’s Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program, with additional funding through its Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) for eligible producers to implement conservation practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The states to receive CIG funding are Arkansas, California, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida, Idaho, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Washington.

CIG, a component of EQIP, stimulates development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. CIG grant recipients are required to provide matching funds — either cash or in-kind services.
