Stabenow schedules farm bill hearing on world food demands

Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., has scheduled a farm bill hearing next week that will focus on the role of American agriculture in meeting world food demands.
The hearing, titled “Food for Thought: The Role, Risks and Challenges for American Agriculture and the Next Farm Bill in Meeting the Demands of a Growing World,” will be held Thursday, May 26 at 10 a.m.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is scheduled to testify, as is former Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman, now co-chairman of the Chicago Council’s Global Agricultural Development Initiative and senior fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center in Washington.
