Busy week for House Ag Committee

Congress is back this week, and the House Agriculture Committee is planning a busy schedule.

Tuesday 10 a.m. — The full committee will join the House Natural Resources Committee for a joint hearing entitled "At Risk: American Jobs, Agriculture, Health and Species — the Costs of Federal Regulatory Dysfunction," according to a House Agriculture Committee advisory.

Wednesday 10 a.m. — The full committee will meet to mark up H.R. 1573, a bill to delay by 18 months the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's implementation of Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The bill was introduced by House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., and Reps. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., Michael Conaway, R-Texas, and Scott Garrett, R-N.J.,

Wednesday 2 p.m. — The House Agriculture Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Subcommittee will hold a hearing to review the state of the pork industry.

Thursday 9:30 a.m. — The House Agriculture Conservation, Energy and Forestry Subcommittee will hold a hearing to review the U.S. Forest Service's proposed forest planning rule.
