The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is taking up the issue of water, Chamber President Tom Donohue said Wednesday in comments after Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack spoke at a conference.

Donohue said the chamber has recognized that “water is a phenomenal issue” and that the group intends to study it “from an economic perspective, even a peace and war point of view.”

Donohue noted that water is a particularly important issue in the Middle East and said he has been impressed with water retention programs in Israel.

Vilsack added, “Israel has a recycling program that is nothing short of amazing.”
