Barron joins government affairs at Greenberg Traurig

Ed Barron, who has been a partner in the lobbying and consulting firm of Russell & Barron, has left to join the government affairs practice in the Washington office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

Barron, a lawyer, said he enjoyed his work with partner Randy Russell but that he was attracted by the global scope of Greenberg Traurig’s 30 offices in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Russell & Barron has been renamed The Russell Group

Barron was long associated with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and worked for him on both the Agriculture and Judiciary committee staffs. In addition to working on agriculture and food issues, Barron worked on Commodity Futures Trading Commission matters and a wide range of judiciary issues.

Early in his career he worked in the general counsel’s office of the Agriculture Department. When he first left Capitol Hill, he was vice president and legislative counsel for the Air Transport Association.
