Hagstrom joins farm bill discussion on NPR show

Hagstrom Report executive editor Jerry Hagstrom was among the guests on a National Public Radio show today for a discussion of the proposals to cut farm program spending and write a new five-year farm bill in conjunction with the congressional super committee's effort to come up with a plan to reduce the federal deficit.

The segment “Does the Farm Lobby Really Want to Cut Subsidies?” was part of Warren Olney’s “To the Point” program that originated at KCRW 89.9 FM in Santa Monica, Calif.

The show also featured Vincent Smith, an agricultural economist at Montana State University; Jon Doggett of the National Corn Growers Association, and Joel Salatin, a Virginia farmer/rancher and author of eight books on food and culture.

NOTE: Audio of the program may be downloaded or streamed from the link above. The farm bill discussion starts at 23 minutes into the hour-long program, which begins with a discussion of the death of Moammar Gadhafi.
