House passes FTAs; Senate approval expected shortly

The House of Representatives passed the free trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama tonight, while the Senate is expected to approve the agreements later this evening.

But the vote for each agreement was different, the National Journal Daily reported.

The pact with Colombia, which was the most controversial, was approved on a 262-167 vote. The deal with South Korea passed 278-151, and the Panama agreement, the smallest of the three, passed, 300-129.

The House also passed a bill to reauthorize trade adjustment assistance for workers and farmers hurt by free trade agreements.
