U.S. Grains Council promotes Atkins, Sifferath

The U.S. Grains Council has named Kimberly Atkins as vice president and chief operating officer, and promoted Cary Sifferath to her previous post as senior director of global programs.

Atkins will oversee daily operations and management, including relationships with strategic and member partners and oversight of the council’s strategic plan.

She has been with the council for 10 years, working in roles focused on global operations. She assumed her new role on Saturday.

Atkins worked for the council from 2005-2011, serving in many roles including communications coordinator, executive assistant and four years as manager of international operations.

From 2011-2012, she served as the consulting projects manager for World Perspectives Inc., an agricultural consulting firm.

Atkins is a graduate of the University of Montana and holds a degree in political science and communication studies. She grew up on a barley, wheat and canola farm in northern Montana.

Sifferath, USGC’s regional director for the Middle East and Africa, will take Atkins’ place as senior director of global programs.

With the council 22 years, Sifferath has run regional offices in Southeast Asia and North Africa and country offices in Japan and China.

The U.S. Grains Council is a private, nonprofit partnership of agribusinesses and producers committed to building and expanding international markets for U.S. barley, corn, sorghum and their products.

The council has 10 international offices that oversee programs in more than 50 countries. Support for the group comes from its producer and agribusiness members and the Agriculture Department.
