Durbin releases Senate calendar through Labor Day

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill, today released a Senate calendar for 2014 through the Labor Day recess.

According to the calendar, the Senate would convene on January 6 and stay in session through January 17 to address funding of the government after the current continuing resolution expires on January 15, before departing for a state work period the week of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 20.

According to a schedule released by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., the House is schedule to go into session on January 7 and leave for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on January 16.

The calendars indicate that the House and the Senate will largely be in session the same weeks in the first half of 2014, although the House will take off an additional week in mid May.
