GOP aide: Cantor remarks no different from Boehner

The remark by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., last week in Boise, Idaho, that the House will vote on the farm bill after the election was no different from the statements made by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, a House GOP aide told The Hagstrom Report on Friday. Boehner has previously said the House will address the farm bill after the election.

A key farm lobbyist also noted that Cantor did not comment on whether he meant a vote on a new farm bill or an extension of the 2012 bill.

Meanwhile, The Hill newspaper reported that lobbyists had said the farm bill is most likely to be tied to legislation dealing with the fiscal cliff.
