Consumers Union launches meat campaign at Trader Joe’s

Consumers Union today launched a campaign calling on Trader Joe’s to stop selling meat and poultry from animals in which antibiotics have been used heavily in production.

The consumer group, publisher of Consumer Reports, launched the campaign in front of Trader Joe’s store on Union Square in New York City, and delivered a petition signed by 560,000 consumers.

Consumers Union maintains that the overuse of antibiotics in animals is weakening the power of these medications to treat infectious diseases in people.
