Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has invited Long Island Farm Bureau Executive Director Joseph Gergela to renew his two-year membership in the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy, the Long Island Farm Bureau announced this week.
The ACIEP, overseen by Clinton and chaired by Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Jose Fernandez, advises the State Department on a broad range of international economic policy issues and foreign policy changes to advance U.S. strategic and political goals throughout the world. The committee meets three to four times a year at the State Department.
Gergela was close to Clinton when she was a senator from New York and is a long-time supporter of Clinton and former President Bill Clinton.
