No farm bill mention in House summer agenda

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., sent House Republicans a summer legislative agenda today that does not mention the farm bill, although it does say, “our schedule will undoubtedly require further additions.”

House Agriculture Committee ranking member Collin Peterson, D-Minn., said in an email that he still believes the bill will come up in the House.

“I’m pretty optimistic that we’ll be able to get the farm bill out of committee and the Senate will pass a bipartisan bill,” Peterson said. “At that point I don’t see a reason for them not to put it on the floor. The closer we get to November the more difficult it will be to get anything done.”
