Obama to speak on food security

In advance of the G-8 Summit at Camp David, President Barack Obama on May 18 will deliver the opening keynote address to the Symposium on Global Agriculture and Food Security, the White House announced Tuesday.

Obama’s remarks will highlight the G-8’s efforts to promote food security, improve nutrition and alleviate hunger.

Obama will be joined by African leaders, business leaders, international organizations, and leading civil society participants “who will discuss innovative and practical ways to advance food security and agricultural development in Africa, which has been a priority for this administration for the last three years,” the White House said in a news release.

The event is sponsored by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
