Western Growers hires Nuxoll, promotes Barbic

Western Growers, the association of California and Arizona specialty crop producers, has hired Dennis Nuxoll as vice president of federal government affairs. He replaces Cathleen Enright, who has become head of the Washington office of the Biotechnology Industry Organization.
Nuxoll was previously senior director of federal policy at the American Farmland Trust and before that a legislative assistant to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., and an attorney with Stewart and Stewart Law Offices in Washington. Nuxoll received his law degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history.
Western Growers has also promoted Ken Barbic to senior director of government affairs.
Barbic, who is from Bakersfield, Calif. works on immigration reform, international trade, water, healthcare reform and the farm bill.
Western Growers represents the growers, packers and shippers of half the fresh produce found in grocery stores around the country.
