Stabenow moves up dates of last two farm bill hearings

In what appears to be a signal that the Senate will move faster and work harder to finish the farm bill this year, Senate Agriculture Committee chairman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., announced today that her committee's last two farm bill hearings scheduled for March will be moved up a week.

Stabenow said the nutrition hearing that had been scheduled for March 14 will be held March 7, and that the hearing on risk management and commodity programs scheduled on March 21 will be held on March 14.

The Senate Agriculture Committee will hold a hearing Tuesday on conservation and has already held a hearing on energy issues.
