The International Food Information Council has hired Steven Cohen, a former Agriculture Department and Capitol Hill press secretary, as its new director of media relations.
Cohen served for six years as the deputy director and senior press officer in the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs at USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS). Before his work at FSIS, Cohen worked for 10 years on Capitol Hill, serving on the staffs of three members of Congress.
For the past four years, he has been based in Rome, working as a strategic communications adviser to the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization and the U.N. International Fund for Agricultural Development.
His wife, Nancy Roman, was communications director at the U.N. World Food Program headquarters in Rome, but has recently relocated to WFP’s Washington, D.C., office.
